Impressions brings together a series of botanical charcoal drawings, each one chosen for what it says about growth, adaptation and environment.
Each drawing is made on paper toned with pigments from the plant’s native region - a material connection to place that runs through the whole collection. The surface references the oxidised warmth of early photography, grounding the work in a longer history of looking closely at the natural world.
These are portraits. Not of faces, but of the kind of quiet endurance plants embody. Adapting, taking root, finding the conditions to grow. The collection asks the viewer to consider their own relationship with the environments they inhabit and the ones they choose and ultimately the impressions they leave behind.
