The wax palms of Colombia's Cocora Valley are the tallest palm trees in the world, reaching up to 60 metres. Thats not the most interesting part though.. For the first 15 years of their life, they grow slower than all other palm trees. Putting all their energy into their roots. Once they have built a strong enough foundation they then grow towards the light. There's something worth sitting with in that.

This print is part of the Palm Portrait Series, a collection of prints made during a visit to the Cocora Valley. The images were processed using ground coffee sourced from the surrounding Quindio region, one of Colombia's most celebrated coffee-growing areas, mixed into the cyanotype chemistry.

The result is a subtle warmth in the tonal range that a standard cyanotype wouldn't produce, and a quiet connection between the image and the place it came from.

Each print is made on heavyweight 640gsm cotton rag paper, chosen for its texture, longevity, and the way it holds the tone of the cyanotype process.

All editions are float mounted in an L-shaped frame, and arrive ready to hang with fixings already attached to the back. Each work comes with a certificate of authenticity, signed and numbered by myself.
